Event narrative

Heavy rain over the Clay Springs Fire burn scar caused significant debris flows out of both the Fool Creek and Oak Creek drainages. However, prior mitigation efforts in Oak City protected homes from damage and flooding.

Wider weather episode

The moist airmass that was over Utah in late August continued through the first few days of September, helping produce several flash floods across the state.
