Event narrative

A CoCoRaHS observer reported 2.10 inches of rain in about an hour 7 miles north-northwest of Quitman Canyon. The heavy rain washed out a two inch steel pipe that had been in place since the 1940's and caused severe flooding in the canyon.

Wider weather episode

The dryline pushed into Far Eastern Hudspeth County and provided the lift needed for thunderstorms to develop. A very slow moving thunderstorm produced flash flooding near Quitman Canyon.
