Event narrative

Two semis collided on the eastbound side of Interstate 20 about 13 miles west of Pecos due to icy roads. Traffic detoured to State Highway 17 since the Semi trucks were blocking east bound lanes.

Wider weather episode

A mix of freezing rain and sleet fell across west Texas in the wake of an arctic airmass, and downstream of a slow moving upper trough.
