Strong northerly winds developed north of Cape Krusenstein between high pressure over Russia and low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska. Blowing snow developed reducing visibility near zero at times near Point Hope during the afternoon hours of the 10th. The peak gust as reported by the AWOS was 41 mph (36 kt).
