Numerous trees were reported down around town. Poolesville was without power for an extended period of time.

A cold front moved south through the region. Southerly flow ahead of the front led to an unstable air mass, which combined with steepening mid level lapse rates and increased sheer led to numerous severe thunderstorms being triggered right ahead of the front.
