Event narrative
Only 4 to 8 inches of snow fell in the region but it was accompanied by very strong winds which closed US Route 30 between Lava Hot Springs and Soda Springs from the evening of the 21st around 11 pm to the morning of the 22nd. A Salt Lake City Express van flipped on its side on interstate 15 near McCammon around 5 pm on the 21st. No major injuries occurred due to the crash.
Wider weather episode
A powerful winter storm brought snow and wind to the mountains with 5 to 10 inches of snow and many road closuures and accidents. Thunderstorms also accompanied the cold front with the storm with strong winds through the Snake River Plain as well along the front.
