Event narrative
Storm total for the Ketchikan area was 6 to 11 inches new snowfall. News stories were abound. Impact was snow removal on an already deep snowpack. To add to the misery, the snow was heavy and wet with no place to put it.
Wider weather episode
A strong upper level disturbance moved over the Panhandle with a 1004 MBV Gale force Low just off Ocean Cape. This system rapidly deepened to 992 mb early on the morning of 2/28 as a strong front moved on to the coast dumping snow. The impact was snow removal but no damage was reported.
