Event narrative
Coastal flooding reported on the southbound lane of the Dauphin Island Parkway, just north of the Dog River Bridge. The right lane is impassable. Tides were running 1.5 to 2 feet above normal during a spring tidal cyclone and occurred at the time of high tide at the mouth of the Dog River.
Wider weather episode
A deep upper level low moving across the southern plains contributed a strong onshore flow across the north central Gulf Coast. The combination of the prolonged southerly winds and above normal tides resulted in minor coastal flooding in portions of Mobile County.
