Event narrative

The Sharps fire began by human cause on July 29th via exploding targets. It continued through a good part of August and grew to 64,853 acres and located approximately 6 miles east of Bellevue on Sharps Canyon Road. The BLM closed public lands in and around the Sharps fire in Blaine County. This included all BLM-managed lands east of Highway 75, south of East Fork Road, then south of the Sawtooth National Forest Boundary, west of Fish Creek Road, and north of US Highway 20, and east of Gannett Road. Other closures were the following: Muldoon Canyon Road is closed from EE-DA-HO Ranch (east of Bellevue). East Fork Road is closed at Triumph. Little Wood Reservoir Road is closed at the Hunt Lane. Quigley, Slaughterhouse Creek Roads, Indian Creek, and Ohio Gulch Roads are closed where the pavement ends. High Five, Road Canyon Road and Baugh Creek, are also closed. No structures were damaged. Mandatory evacuations were ordered for Little Wood recreation Area campground and all residences on Little Wood Reservoir Road and Flat Top Road north of the reservoir.
