Event narrative
A private aircraft accident was reported to the Portland TRACON around 4:48 PM on April 29th. A nearby spotter reported gusty microburst type winds that broke 1-1.5 inch branches off trees east of I-5. A strong downburst from a nearby shower possibly caused the airplane accident. Two fatalities were reported.
Wider weather episode
A upper-level trough generated a few stronger showers up across southwest Washington. One of these showers produced a downburst of winds, enough to bring down a private plane causing two fatalities.
