What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The tornado began in Evangeline Parish and crossed Highway 190 into Acadia. The path continue generally south of due east passing Bryan Perrodin Loop. One home had minor roof damage, however several trees were snapped near the highway. The max estimated wind speed was 104 mph.

The wider storm

Deep moisture streamed into the area ahead of an upper level trough and weak cold front. Precipitable water values ranged from 2 to 2.5 with the slow moving system which caused efficient rain producing storms and lead to flash flooding. Several tornadoes also occurred.
