Event narrative

Upslope snowfall occurred across the northeast Brooks Range above 2000 ft. The NRCS SNOTEL at Atigun Pass reported an estimated 6 inches of new snow, but it is likely totals of 8 inches or more fell at higher elevations east of the Dalton Highway. The AK DOT also reported difficult driving conditions due to snow from Milepost 235 to 285 on the Dalton Highway.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system dropping south from the high Arctic and into northeast Alaska resulted in significant snowfall along the northeast Brooks Range.
