Drought conditions improved to moderate by the middle of the month.

Beneficial rainfall occurred during the month of September. This alleviated the drought conditions across parts of south Texas during the month. But rainfall amounts were generally below normal for the month. Severe drought conditions persisted over portions of the Coastal Bend and Brush Country through the end of the month.
