Event narrative

Snowfall was very elevation-dependent. A Cooperative Observer in East Hawley reported 7.2 inches of snow. Other reports included 7.0 inches in Heath and Rowe and 8.0 inches in Leyden. Lesser amounts occurred in other parts of western Franklin County with only 4.0 inches in Shelburne and Greenfield.

Wider weather episode

Heavy snow fell during the morning of February 10 in the higher elevations of the east slopes of the Berkshires. It was caused by a warm front that extended southeastward from a clipper type of low pressure system moving through the Great Lakes.
