Event narrative

Observers from Norway to Iron Mountain measured between 4 and 5 inches of snow over an approximate 15-hour period on the 23rd.

Deputies from the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the scene of two-vehicle accident on Highway US-2 near Alfredson Road in Waucedah Township at 2:41 pm CST on the 23rd. Based on the investigation, a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling westbound on US-2 when it crossed the center line. The Equinox then struck a 2017 GMC Sierra head-on that was towing an enclosed snowmobile trailer. After the impact, the vehicles came to rest on the south shoulder of US-2. The two occupants of the Sierra, both from Suamico, WI were transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries. The two occupants of the Equinox, a 56-year-old male and a 59-year-old female from Tripler, WI were pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and road conditions were factors in the crash. Numerous other police and EMS departments assisted at the scene.
