What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

A tornado touched down just east of CCC Road and traveled

just less than one mile to the northeast ending at the intersection of Hilltop

Drive and Marshall Smith Road. A few tree tops were damaged in a pasture with

a strand of trees uprooted along a fence line. There was minor damage to a

metal roof of a house along with metal roofing torn from a shed. The approximate

maximum path width was 50 yards.

The wider storm

A Mesoscale Convective Vortex moved across the area during the morning and early afternoon. Enhanced vertical wind shear with this system combined with a moist and unstable atmosphere led to the development of thunderstorms with embedded mesocyclones, some of which produced tornadoes.
