Four to five inches of snow fell across the ridges of Westmoreland County on Christmas Day.
The wider storm
A strong low pressure system brought rain transitioning to snow into the region December 24-25th. The deep and pivoting trough maintained the resident time of the precipitation and supported robust snowfall rates. Snow accumulation by 7 AM on December 25th provided an official white Christmas across much of the region.
