During the morning hours of January 2, Mesonet EW2796 reported a wind gust of 58 mph 9 miles northwest of Langley.

Several weather systems moved across Western Washington at the beginning of the new year, bringing with them widespread rain and gusty winds to the area. Several observations sites reported gusts in excess of 58 mph.
