Severe drought improved by the end of the month.

Drought conditions initially degraded after a dry start to May, but quickly improved after a series of heavy rain events in mid to late May. Extreme drought conditions were observed across extreme northwestern Webb County as well as across Bee, Goliad, Refugio, Victoria and Calhoun counties at the beginning of May with these areas reporting moderate to severe drought by the end of the month. Severe drought persisted through the first half of May across the Coastal Bend with rainfall resulting in improvement to abnormally dry conditions.
