Event narrative

The eastern half of the zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought while the west remained in Severe(D2) drought conditions.

Wider weather episode

Areas of far southwest New Mexico continued to remain dry in June, but the Sacramento Mountains and parts of south-central New Mexico did receive above normal precipitation. There was some improvement to drought conditions in these areas with above normal rainfall.
