A 56 mph gust was measured at Sunset Beach, with sustained winds of 43 mph. The Oak Island Weatherflow measured a peak gust of 55 mph, with sustained winds of 37 mph.

Wider weather episode

Tropical Storm Elsa made landfall in the panhandle of Florida, then moved northeastward into the Carolinas and weakened. The storm still managed to produce gusts to tropical storm force.
