A 23 year old male drowned in a rip current at Holden Beach, just west of Lockwood Folly Inlet, while swimming with two friends.
A 17 year old female drowned in a rip current shortly after noon at Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Two other teens who were caught in the rip current were rescued.

Oak Island Water Rescue reported three people got caught in a rip current near the pier on Trott St. The father was brought to shore by bystanders and pronounced dead, while a second person was rescued. The third person, the son, was found in the water a few hours later.
A 47 yr old man drowned attempting to rescue two children caught in a rip current. The children were eventually saved.
A 20 year old male got caught in a rip current a the 400 block of Ocean Beach Blvd. He was pulled from the water and pronounced dead at the hospital.
A rip current caused a fatality at Holden Beach. The incident occurred at low tide near 315 Ocean Blvd.
