Prolong dryness this fall along with above normal temperatures has led to the expansion of Severe Drought conditions into Humboldt County.

The West Fork of the Des Moines River at Humboldt remained in flood from a peak crest in June 2024.

The East Fork of the Des Moines at Dakota City crested at 21.65 ft on June 24 at 01:30 pm CDT.

The West Fork of the Des Moines at Humboldt crested at 16.99 ft on June 27 at 02:15 am CDT. The river remained in flood through the end of the month and into July. Preliminary information indicates this is the new flood of record for the point.

Rainfall in the middle and later portion of March helped to improve hydrologic conditions across Humboldt county by the end of the month with severe drought ending in the county.
