The coroner in Knox County said that a man in his 50's was found dead along Highway 1304 in the Payne's Creek area. The cause of death was ruled as exposure to the cold.

A car accident occurred on Highway 11 south of Barbourville early this morning due to slick roads caused by freezing rain. One fatality and one injury occurred as a result of this accident.

The Kentucky Mesonet station 3 miles east of Barbourville reported a peak wind gust of 35 mph at 240 PM EST. The Knox County dispatch received multiple reports of trees and powerlines blown down around the county, suggesting that isolated higher gusts likely occurred.
