Due to ongoing lack of rain across the area the severe (D2) drought has expanded into Chariton County. So far there have been little to no reports of impacts, but the drought continued into October.

Periods of moderate to heavy snow moved through the area during the morning hours on February 17. The highest totals were generally in the 5 to 7 inch range.
