Belmont storm history

An inmate was killed and five others injured after a lightning strike at the Belmont County Correctional Facility while prisoners were in the recreational yard. Three of the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Emergency management reported flash flooding in Willow Grove, which is near Neffs. 97 homes and businesses were damaged, with other damage to roads and bridges. The estimated total damage was near 1.3 million dollars. 6 people were evacuated from homes but there were no injuries.

Widespread snowfall, generally exceeding advisory criteria but falling short of warning criteria, fell across the county with amounts ranging from 3-5 inches and the highest total of 4 inches reported by the Public in Bellaire.

Severe Drought (D2) conditions continued through the month of December with precipitation continuing to run below average, with only minor improvements over central Ohio.

Exceptional Drought continued through the November 26th Drought Monitor update, where it was finally improved to Extreme Drought conditions.

A tree was blown down on Wegee Road.

On Webb Heights Road, a tree was blown down.

Trees were downed on to State Route 7, closing the road.

A swath of wind damage was noted by an NWS storm survey, extending from near Scout Road to School House Road. Most damage consisted of broken and uprooted trees, but on Scout Road, one outbuilding was destroyed and another lost some roofing material.
