Slick roads during the morning hours due to freezing rain and freezing drizzle caused a fatality about one and a half miles from the rim of Palo Duro Canyon south of Claude. The vehicle went off State Road 207 between 0615 CST and 0630 CST.

A truck and camper flipped over on US 287 a mile east of Washburn.

A peak wind gust of 64mph was measured at the mesonet site located ten miles east-northeast of Palo Duro Canyon. This occurred at 901pm. The first severe wind gust of 60mph was measured at 8:58pm and the last severe wind gust of 59mph was measured at 9:03pm.

Highway 207 between Conway and Claude was closed due to three feet of water over the highway.

A supercell thunderstorm slowly moved through and south of Claude. It produced a swath of hail ranging from quarter size to grapefruit size. The largest hailstones that measured 3.5 inches and 4.25 inches occurred around ten miles south of Claude.

The mesonet station located 15 miles west southwest of Clarendon gusted to 65 mph at 1640CDT and continued to gust above 58 mph until 1646CDT. The peak gust of 83 mph occurred at 1642CDT.

Visibility got down to 1/4 of a mile on U.S. Highway 287 northwest Claude.

Each observation site had dozens of high wind gusts from 58 mph to 80 mph, with the highest concentration of high wind gusts between 1050CDT to 1410CDT. Estimated average sustained winds were 45-50 mph during that time.

The heaviest snow fell across the northern half of the county, especially around Claude where 8 to 12 of snow was measured. Off the Caprock in the canyon is where less than 6 of snow fell.

A few high wind gusts occurred at a couple of ground stations in the county. Wind gusts up to 58 mph were recorded. The event lasted for about 3 hour.

This storm system produced snowfall that equated to a total of 5 to 8 northwest of Claude. The rest of the county received 1 to 5 of snow.

Large hail fell for about 15 minutes at an outdoor adventure park on the north rim of the canyon with the largest hail up to around ping pong size. At least 3 RVs were damaged and had skylights broken out. Porta potties were also blown about 40 feet from the thunderstorm winds.

The Goodnight mesonet gusted to 58 mph while the Claude 12SW mesonet gusted to 59 mph during this time.

This wildfire, named Juliet Pass, occurred along Hwy 207 and Lima Road. The fire was estimated to be about 2963 acres. No records on the cost of the wildfire.

The Churchill Fire at JA Ranch was started due to Welding equipment used to build a fence. The fire was able to quickly spread and was contained at about 4520 acres, mostly due to dry fuels as winds were pretty tame.

Armstrong County started and ended the month in Severe Drought (D2) conditions. Despite receiving near normal April rainfall over much of the county, this was not enough to offset the overall deficit for any improvements to made to the drought category.

One minute sustained winds measured by mesonet stations in the county were between 40 mph and 55 mph between the hours of 1915CST and 2252CST.

A couple of mesonet stations located in the county measured wind gusts ranging from 58 to 71 mph between the hours of 1829CST and 2122CST.
