Due to prolonged dryness, Severe (D2) Drought conditions expanded across much of Brooks County that included Falfurrias, to cover all but the southeast corner, from November 11 through the 17th.

The combination of the lack of rainfall and near-record heat from late summer into mid-autumn led to the onset of Severe (D2) level drought in northeast Brooks County, beginning on November 4, 2025.

Falfurrias (AWOS) recorded peak heat indices between 111-115F for a couple of hours during the afternoon/evening (between 4:15-6:15 PM CDT).

Dry weather through April was sufficient to extend Severe (D2) Drought farther east in the South Texas Brush Country, clipping the northwest corner of Brooks County by the 29th.

Severe (D2) Drought developed in all of Brooks County on March 11th, and continued through the end of the month. Note that locally heavy rainfall between March 26 and early March 28 would reduce drought levels in the county, but these would be shown on the April 1 monitor.

Falfurrias AWOS recorded wind chill values at or below 25F degrees for about 10 hours (from 12:15am to 9:55am on February 20). Minimum wind chill values of 20-22F degrees fell between that time period on February 20.
