Visibility fell to one quarter mile at Dalhart airport. Broadcast media reports that one man died in a vehicle accident on highway 385 near Dalhart that was caused by the dense fog.

A supercell thunderstorm moved across Texline and brought large hail of 2.25 inches to 2.5 inches across the city.

A 71mph wind gust was measured at the mesonet site located two miles north of Texline. This gust was followed by a 65mph and 60mph wind gust as well.

A swath of small hail occurred across portions of Dallam County. Hail covered the ground to the northeast of Dalhart, with stones that ranged from pea to penny size.

Hail fell to the east of Dalhart. The sizes were mostly nickel-sized but there were some hailstones the size of golf balls mixed in as well.

First severe wind gust occurred at 1813 CDT and last severe wind gust occurred at 1815 CDT at the mesonet site two miles north of Texline.

This tornado remained in open grassland causing no damage. The only damage indicator it crossed was a powerline on E0330 Road which was not damaged. It did result in flattened grass along a portion of its track. The total track length was around 9.4 miles.

Chasers documented a brief and weak touchdown in open field south of Perico. No other damage was noted.

The Texline mesonet measured sustained winds of 35 to 45 mph while gusts mainly were up of 57 mph. There were a few gusts that reached 58mph and 59mph.

The Texline mesonet station observed a wind gust of 60mph at 1403 CST.

Peak wind gust of 76 mph was measured by the Texline mesonet at 2356CDT.

High Lonesome Fire in Dallam and Cimarron Counties. Fire Started on private land in Dallam County and later expanded into Cimarron County. The fire was 23,335 acres. Could not find estimated cost or cause of Fire.

The observation site had three 60-63 mph wind gusts between 0626CDT to 0633CDT followed by a prolonged lull, then a 59 mph wind gust at 1350CDT.

Multiple high wind gusts occurred at one ground station in the county. Wind gusts up to 78 mph were recorded. The event lasted for about 8 hour.

Several rollover accidents to the northwest of Dalhart along US 87 and southwest of Dalhart along US 54. First accident was reported just after 0700CST and the last report was at 1130CST. There were injuries.

Dallam County received 1 to maybe 2 of snow.

Light snow fell over the county with accumulations up to an inch. Texline observed 1.3 inches of snow by the morning of the 5th.

The roof of a grain silo was ripped off and the west side wall of the silo was caved in.

Video that was posted on social media shows a grain silo destroyed and laying across the south bound lane of Highway 87.

First wind gust was at 1749CDT was 60 mph. The max wind gust of 61 mph occurred at 1751CDT. Severe wind gusts persisted for 6 minutes from 1749 through 1755CDT.

This mesonet showed additional gusts of 58-60mph several times from 1737CDT through 1750CDT.

Hail up to two inches in diameter fell across Dalhart.

Hail ranging from quarter to baseball size fell across and just to the south of Texline.

A swath of quarter size hail fell in Texline and just to the east of town.

The mesonet located near Texline measured multiple wind gusts between 58 and 64 mph during this time period.

The mesonet station located two miles north of Texline measured a 59mph wind gust.

Five to seven inches of snow fell across western Dallam County, close to Texline. Much of the county saw three to four inches of snow with areas in the southeast part of the county, including around Dalhart, seeing around two to three inches of snow.

Two to Five inches of snow fell across portions of Dallam and Hartley County around Dalhart and northwest to Texline.

The mesonet located near Texline measured sustained winds between 40 and 48 mph for several hours leading to blizzard conditions on the 8th of January.

An estimated 1.5 to 3 inches of snow fell. The cooperative observer near Texline measured a total of 1.5 of snow with this event.

Several tree limbs, 1 to 2 in diameter, were blown down by thunderstorm wind gusts.
