Broadcast media reported that two men were struck by lightning at The Bridges golf course in Gunter. One man was killed and another injured.
Two fatalities occurred when their SUV hydroplaned off of the US 75 service road and ended up overturned in a flooded drainage culvert. The two individuals were swept away into Post Oak Creek.

A male was killed on icy roads when his car lost control on an overpass and rolled over. Several other vehicle accidents were reported during the morning hours as freezing drizzle resulted in icy conditions.
A 34-year-old truck driver died on US Highway 75 in Sherman. He lost control of his semi on an icy patch and crashed into the concrete pillar of the Loy Lake Road overpass. The temperature at the time of the accident was around 23 degrees.
Slick roadways are believed to be the cause of a fatal accident on FM 1753. A man riding a motorcycle lost control on the wet road and slid off the road. He died while en route to the hospital.

A total of 94 accidents occurred in Sherman, Denison, Howe, and Van Alstyne due to icy conditions. More than 10 of the wrecks resulted in injuries which required hospital treatment. Numerous other cars skidded into ditches. Most of the accidents occurred on Highways 75 and 82.
At least 50 accidents were reported across the county in association with a weekend ice storm. Several of the accidents involved injuries. Power was also briefly out to residents as ice accumulated on and pulled down power lines.
Accumulations of snow, sleet, and freezing rain caused numerous accidents around the county. Most of them were along U.S. Highway 82 and Highway 75. Several of the accidents were serious, with cars driving off bridges, overpasses, and into trees.

Hail up to baseball size did extensive damage in Sherman to cars and houses. This is the same storm that hit the Whitesboro area earlier.

Large hail 2.25-2.5 inches in size fell for 8-10 minutes about 3 miles southeast of Howe. Windows were broken and roof damage was observed. The weather station at this location also measured 62 mph winds with large tree branches broken.

A broadcast media report indicated that Preston Trail Farms along Hwy 289 south of Gunter had a barn destroyed and roof damage to their feed store, with 3 goats killed.
