The cause of the wildfire is unknown. The fire continued through the month of August and burned 16,428 acres of grassland, brush, and timber. It prompted level 3 evacuations along SR-97 from Oroville to the Canadian Border. Three structures were lost.

Moderate to heavy snow fell in the Okanogan Valley, with an overnight, 12 hour accumulation of 5 to 11 inches in Okanogan, Malott, and Tonasket. Light snow continued off and on throughout the day with an additional 1 to 2 inches in parts of the valley.
