The Kivalina AWOS (PAVL) reported winds in excess of 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph throughout the day. Heavy snow from the previous few days began to blow and the visibility remained at or below 1/4 mile for more than 8 hours.

Winds increased along the Chukchi Sea coast during the early morning hours of November 19th, with frequent gusts of 60 mph or greater. Winds gusts to 77 mph were reported at Red Dog Dock (RDDA2) and to 60 mph at Kivalina (PAVL).

Winds increased along the Chukchi Sea coast during the morning hours of October 20th, with frequent gusts of 60 mph or greater. Winds gusted to 75 mph were reported at Red Dog Dock (RDDA2) and to 60 mph at Kivalina (PAVL). Winds diminished slowly through the day on the 21st.

Strong northerly winds developed at Kivalina during the early afternoon hours. The Kivalina (PAVL) ASOS reported a peak wind gust of 64 mph.

High winds developed during the morning hours of May 14th at Red Dog Dock (RDDA2). Wind gusts up to 66 mph were reported.

Blizzard conditions developed at Kivalina on the morning of the 15th causing large snow drifts to form. A peak wind gust of 56 mph was reported at Kivalina during the event.

The Kivalina (PAVL) ASOS reported two separate periods of blizzard conditions, where visibility dropped below a quarter of a mile. In addition to the blizzard conditions, wind gusts in excess of 60 mph were reported, with a peak wind gust of 73 mph.

Blizzard conditions were observed at the Kivalina (PAVL) ASOS. Wind gusts up to 59 mph were reported and were accompanied by visibility of 1/4 mile or less in blowing snow.
