EF0 Tornado — Issaquena, Mississippi

Event narrative
A tornado touched down near Lake Albemarle. Initially it produced intermittent tree damage, moved northeast across the levee at Mississippi Highway 465, and then moved across mostly forested and lowland areas of river bottom. The tornado remained near EF-0 intensity until it crossed into Sharkey County near US Highway 61 where it intensified and downed several trees near the roadway. After it crossed the highway, the tornado intensified further, and destroyed numerous farm outbuildings, uprooted and snapped trees, tossed a grain bin, and rolled semi trailers. The tornado here reached a peak intensity of EF-2 with estimated maximum winds of 120 mph. The tornado moved northeast to Omega Road where a few trees were downed, and then it dissipated just west of the Delta National Forest. The maximum estimated winds in Issaquena County were 85 mph. The total path length was 10.28 miles across the two counties.
Wider weather episode
Severe thunderstorms moved across Mississippi during the evening and overnight hours of the 13th into the 14th, with flash flooding across areas of the Delta and several tornadoes. Severe storm coverage diminished during the night, but storms became severe again during the afternoon of the 14th as a cold front interacted with a warm and unstable air mass in the region. Tornadoes on the 14th were generally along and south of the Interstate 20 corridor with severe storms continuing into the evening.
