Event narrative
This tornado began near the intersection of Liberty Road and Prospect Rd. where it uprooted trees and downed large tree branches. It continued northeast across Cranfield Rd. and downed additional trees. The most concentrated damage occurred along Nations Rd. where a mobile home, a travel trailer, and sheds were damaged. Eight residents were trapped in a damaged home along Nations Rd. Farther east, the tornado weakened and lifted before it reached Shady Creek Rd. The maximum estimated winds were 105 mph.
Wider weather episode
Severe thunderstorms moved across Mississippi during the evening and overnight hours of the 13th into the 14th, with flash flooding across areas of the Delta and several tornadoes. Severe storm coverage diminished during the night, but storms became severe again during the afternoon of the 14th as a cold front interacted with a warm and unstable air mass in the region. Tornadoes on the 14th were generally along and south of the Interstate 20 corridor with severe storms continuing into the evening.
