Event narrative

A tornado briefly developed in east Mekinock about 1.9 miles northeast of the Grand Forks Air Force Base. It caused damage to the garages of 3 different homes, with a maximum expected wind of 105 mph based on one garage that was completely destroyed.

A QLCS type mesoscale convective system brought widespread severe thunderstorm winds to eastern ND, along with, multiple brief tornadoes during the early morning hours.
