Taliaferro storm history

Snow showers began in the morning of the 31st and continued through the afternoon. Total snowfall amounts ranged from 2 to 4 inches.

Light rain showers began on the evening of the 24th. Rain briefly transitioned to ice on the morning of the 25th, however temperatures warmed through the day and quickly melted any accumulations, less than 0.1 inches, which managed to stick on elevated surfaces.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, D2 (Severe Drought) conditions were introduced to Taliaferro County on January 13. By the end of the month, the county had recorded a cumulative total of three weeks at the D2 threshold.

According to an NWS storm survey, many trees were down from the wind. Many roads were cleared by October 3, 2024, nearly a week after Helene. Minimal structural damage was observed. Widespread power outages were down to around 20% as of October 3, 2024.
