Scotts Bluff storm history

Large hail fell over parts of Scottsbluff, NE, damaging many cars and buildings as well as causing some minor injuries from broken glass.

Numerous reports of wind gusts between 90 and 100 MPH near the town of Mitchell causing significant damage with downed trees, powerlines, and overturned center pivots.

Scottsbluff Airport reported a few strong wind gusts of 58 MPH.

Two locations in Scotts Bluff County reported periodic gusts over 58 MPH. Peak gust of 72 MPH was measured at Scottsbluff RAWS site, 2 miles west of Gering Nebraska.

A few strong wind gusts between 58 and 63 MPH were observed at Scottsbluff RAWS site and Scottsbluff Airport. Peak wind gust of 63 MPH reported at Scottsbluff RAWS, 2 miles west of Gering Nebraska.

Trained Spotter reported the largest hailstones close to tennis ball sized.

Trained spotter reported half dollar sized hail.

Media also estimated 70 mph winds a few miles west of Scottsbluff Nebraska. Some trees blown over.

An eight inch tree trunk snapped nearby.

There were at least 10 large trees blown over at the Scottsbluff Country Club. Several homes had broken windows due to wind driven hail.

Peak gust of 59 mph occurred at the Scottsbluff ASOS (KBFF) 3 miles east of Scottsbluff at 12:39 PM on February 25th. Multiple other gusts between 58 and 60 mph were reported in this zone.
