Curry storm history

The Curry Coastal Pilot reported over 2 million dollars in infrastructure damage in Brookings and another 2 million in Curry County due to recent heavy rains. Sinkholes and overflowing sewage facilities were also reported.

The Rogue River Near Agness rose above minor flood stage of 17.0 ft. at 29/800 PST, peaked in minor flood stage at 29/2245 PST at 21.87 ft. At this level, the main impacts are to campgrounds and recreation areas. The river then fell below flood stage at 30/1130 PST.

The river rose above minor flood stage (17.0 feet) at 08/0900 PST. The river crested at 21.93 feet at 08/2145 PST. The river fell below minor flood stage at 09/2000 PST.

Flooding, rockfall, and landslides were reported on numerous roads.

The Rogue River at Agness exceeded the flood stage of 17.0 feet at 13/1954 PST, crested above minor flood stage at 17.7 feet at 13/2300 PST, then fell below flood stage at 14/0204 PST.

There was some minor flooding and small roadslides in areas of Curry County Friday, but no injuries or damage to property were reported by the Curry County Sheriff's Office. In Brookings, culverts were plugged and storm water overwhelmed some street drains.

A spotter 1SE Brookings reported a gust to 68 mph as a severe thunderstorm moved onshore.

The Chetco, Elk, and Sixes rivers were all impacted by flooding. It is likely that other streams in the area such as the Pistol and Winchuck were similarly impacted.

The Elks and Sixes rivers showed impacts from flooding.

At River's Edge and Riverside RV parks at the mouth of the Chetco River both partially flooded during this event and damage was reported at both parks. Crystal Creek near Cape Blanco was reported rising and closure of Hwy. 101 was expected.
