Carbon storm history

Lightning struck in the Beltzville Lake. The lightning strike spread through the water and injured several people and killing a man. Details still unknown on number of injuries etc.

Based on CoCoRaHS reports and automated stations, a few hundredths of an inch of ice accretion occurred. The highest liquid precipitation amount was 0.12 in Lake Harmony and Palmerton.

Snow and sleet totals ranged from 0.5-1. The highest report was 1.4 from 5.8 miles ENE of Palmerton. A light glaze of freezing rain/freezing drizzle also occurred in some areas across the county based on surrounding reports.

Snowfall totals ranged from 5-8. The highest report was 9.0 from Summit Hill.

Light snowfall occurred with totals ranging mostly from 1-3. The highest report was 3.8 from Lehigh Township. Snow fell at a rapid rate, resulting in impacts to the evening commute.

A light glaze of ice occurred, as well as a dusting of sleet and snow based on surrounding reports and temperatures. No freezing rain measurements were received, however a CoCoRaHS observer in Lake Harmony reported freezing rain and 32 at the 7 AM observation on the 13th.
