Wasatch Mountain Valleys storm history

A weather station in Morgan recorded a peak wind gust of 59 mph. A large tree fell on a house in Morgan, and downed trees and blowing debris were reported in Midway.

Heavy snow was reported in the Wasatch Mountain Valleys, including 12 inches in Keetley and 10 inches in Liberty.

Snowfall totals included 36 inches in Liberty, 33 inches in Eden, 16 inches in Morgan, and 12 inches in Snyderville Basin.

Storm total snowfall amounts included 18 inches in Liberty, 11.1 inches at the Deer Creek Dam, 11 inches in Heber City, 8 inches in Jeremy Ranch. For the calendar day of January 7, Deer Creek Dam recorded 7 inches of snow, tying the calendar day record recorded in 1964.

The Heber City Municipal Airport - Russ McDonald Field AWOS recorded a maximum wind gust of 60 mph. The winds destroyed a barn in Wallsburg. Nearly 100 trees were downed in the community of Wolf Creek Ranch, and another 40 trees were reported toppled near Empire Pass.

Many locations in the Wasatch Mountain Valleys received a foot or more of snow from this storm, with reports of 18 inches of snow in Liberty, 15 inches in Eden, 14 inches in Heber City, 13 inches in Park City, and 12 inches at both Wanship Dam and Morgan.
