A tree branch broke in strong winds near Port Angeles but remained in the tree. A few hours later, that branch fell striking and killing a Washington State DOT worker while he was clearing another tree that had fallen along U.S. Hwy 101 8 miles west of Port Angeles.

A period of winter weather was experienced during the first few days of December. Local observations show an average of 1-3 inches of new snow fell on Dec 1 (with the highest amount at 5.8 inches), with less than 1 inch on Dec 2 and Dec 3.

Another round of winter weather moved through the area on the 14th and into the 15th. The hardest hit area during this storm was northern Clallam County, particularly near Port Angeles were 2 feet of new snow was reported.
