What the National Weather Service wrote
A tornado touched down in Gillett at 5:37 PM CDT. The tornado tracked east and tore the roof of a metal building, uplifted and damaged the roof of a nearby building, and snapped and uprooted several trees before dissipating east of Gillett at 5:40 PM CDT. Total path length is estimated to be 2.33 miles long, with a width of 65 yards. Peak wind estimated to be around 95 mph.
The wider storm
A line of thunderstorms and a few supercells developed ahead of a warm front Wednesday (7/23) afternoon across central and north-central Wisconsin. The storms eventually developed into a Quasi-Linear Convective System and tracked through the rest of central, east-central, and northeast Wisconsin through the early evening. The strongest storms produced damaging winds and 5 tornadoes.
