Event narrative
A tornado touched down west of Oconto at 6:00 PM CDT. The tornado tracked northeast and snapped and uprooted several trees before dissipating just north of Oconto at 6:04 PM CDT. The tornado uprooted several trees at a local golf course northwest of Oconto. Total path length is estimated to be 2.37 miles long, with a width of 65 yards. Peak wind estimated to be around 77 mph.
Wider weather episode
A line of thunderstorms and a few supercells developed ahead of a warm front Wednesday (7/23) afternoon across central and north-central Wisconsin. The storms eventually developed into a Quasi-Linear Convective System and tracked through the rest of central, east-central, and northeast Wisconsin through the early evening. The strongest storms produced damaging winds and 5 tornadoes.
