A family was traveling on Highway 35 south of Odell when they hit an icy patch in a shady spot on the road, lost control of the vehicle, and spun into oncoming traffic. Five people were hurt in the accident. Two of those people, a mother and daughter, died of their injuries later…

Cocorahs observer measured 4.5 inches of new snowfall 0700 2/14 in Hood River which is above the minimum warning criteria threshold.

At 0700 on 01/02, a trained spotter reported 6in of new snowfall just outside of Parkdale, OR.

A trained spotter reported 6 inches of snow in Parkdale with heavy snow still ongoing at 1930 PST 12/25/2024 and a member of the public reported of 4 inches of snowfall at upper Odell at 2038 12/25.

Temperatures dropped to the mid 20s to lower 30s.

Freezing rain occurred in the Upper Hood River Valley and appeared to have received 0.50 to 1.00 inch of ice based on reports from heated gages such as Parkdale. LSR report of 0.25 inch ice near Odell.

Trained Skywarn Spotters reported 4 to 6.5 inches of snow in Hood River at elevations 200 feet and below near Highway 84 in the morning of December 1.

Snow began falling around 1830 PST with significant accumulations around 1930 PST, then tapering off around 0600 PST on the 28th. A total of 1 to 4 inches fell.

Around 3 to 7 inches of snow fell per CoCoRaHS and NOHRSC analysis.

The Underwood CoCoRaHS reported about 0.7 inch ice. An observer said it was the most treacherous conditions they have seen at their house in terms of traction.

Looks like about 0.5 inch liquid equivalent with temps around 10 degrees F. Suspect this fell as a combination of snow and sleet, though amounts are unknown.

A report of 7 inches of snow was measured by the public during this winter storm event.

High temperatures on the 17th were in the 90s to around 100 degrees. For example, the high temperature at the Parkdale agrimet (PARO3) was 99 degrees. Overnight temperatures were quite warm with lows in the 60s to low 70s.

Around 8 to 14 inches of snow fell. Parkdale reported 14 inches of snow while it was still snowing.

Snow showers increased the night of the 25th, continuing through the 26th, resulting in significant travel issues for the holiday weekend. Around 16 inches of snowfall was reported.

Snow amounts ranged from 6 inches in the heights of Hood River up to 24 inches in Parkdale.

The Dee Flat agrimet station (DEFO) reported a high temperature of 101 degrees on the 11th and 97 degrees on the 12th.

A trained spotter measured 14 inches of snow in Hood River. Certainly enough to verify a warning in the upper Hood River Valley, too.

The Parkdale ODOT maintenance yard reported a total of 16 inches of snow accumulation. Also, a CoCoRaHS site 10 miles south of Hood River reported 8.6 inches of snow. Much of this came within an 8-12 hour period.

CoCoRaHS station OR-HR-5 reported 6 inches of snow in Parkdale.

CoCoRaHS observer recorded 6.2 inches of snow in Hood River. Also had a public report on Facebook of 9.0 inches in Parkdale.

CoCoRaHS observers reported 0.3 to 0.4 inches of ice on top of 3 to 6 inches of snow.

Devastating Ice Storm in the Columbia River Gorge, with ice accumulations generally around 1 to 2 inches, with 1.5 to 2 inches in Hood River. Interstate 84 (I-84) through the Gorge was closed for a good part of 3 days.

Hood River and Parkdale reported 8 to 12 inches of snow. Heavy packed snow led to leaking roofs, broken pies and gutters on homes across the area. Hood River also required additional emergency snow plowing. I-84 was closed for around 15 hours due to hazardous road conditions.

After a little bit of freezing rain on the 7th, snow increased dramatically on the 8th, leading to multiple 10-12 snow reports in the Hood River Valley.

Estimate the Columbia Gorge had around 0.2 to 0.5 inch of ice accumulation as temperatures in the lower 30s with reports of snow and freezing rain in Hood River.

The Parkdale Agrimet weather station reported a peak gust of 62 mph.

There were several reports of 6 to 9 inches of snow within 12 hours for the Upper Hood River Valley.

The Middle Mountain RAWS measured a peak gust of 63 mph, and a rare west wind gust of 55 mph was measured in Parkdale.

Various of stations reported 0.25 to 0.4 inch of ice accumulation including Parkdale and Middle Mountain. A newspaper article reported a fatal car crash due to ice on Highway 26 in Wasco County, just northeast of the upper hood river valley.

There were numerous reports of 5 to 8 inches of snow in 12 hours in the Upper Hood River Valley.

There were two reports of heavy snow in Parkdale. One from the Hood River County Emergency Manager who reported 14 inches of snow, and the other from the Oregon Department of Transportation who reported 10 inches.

Freezing rain impacted the upper hood river valley area with two reports from the public of ice accumulations around 0.25 inch just northwest of Parkdale on Trout Creek Road (1500 feet elevation).

Snowfall accumulations included 6 inches of new snow at Parkdale.

A spotter in Hood River area reported 6 inches of snow. Similar amount of snow fell in the Parkdale and Odell areas.
