An 84 year old Pine Forest resident was killed at his residence on Hulett Street by a fallen tree limb. As the man arrived home at his residence and exited a vehicle, a tree limb as large as a car was blown out of a 60 foot tall pine tree and crushed both him and the vehicle.
A storm surge as high as 10 to 12 feet reached Bridge City and downtown Orange. A 40 year old man died in Bridge City when his truck was washed off Highway 73 near the Rainbow Bridge. Over 8000 homes were flooded.

Hurricane Ike caused category 1 wind damage across Orange County. Many trees and power lines were downed, some landing on homes and businesses.
Two day rain totals of 12 to 16 inches resulted in long duration flooding across portions of Orange County. The hardest hit areas were near Mauriceville, and along the Neches River near Lakeview. At least 40 homes were destroyed and another 60 were damaged.

An EF-1 tornado touched down just west of Highway 62 south of Mauriceville and continued across parts of FM1130 and Hwy 12 before ending along Kaiyute Road. Several trees were snapped or uprooted along the path.
