Higher than normal surf swept four people off of a jetty in San Pedro Bay. Three of the people were rescued. However, the fourth person was pronounced dead after emergency personnel could not find his body.
Dense fog contributed to a major collision on Interstate 710 in Los Angeles county. In total, 194 vehicles were involved in the accident. Forty-one people were injured.
