Monmouth storm history

A 41-year-old male was struck and died the next day from a lightning strike while fishing with his 10-year-old son on Takanassee Lake Beach in Long Branch. His son was not injured.

A 48-year-old woman was struck by lightning in Monmouth Beach at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Sunset Lane. She died the next day.

A 49-year-old man was struck and killed by lightning on Linden Avenue in Middletown while in contact with a tree and observing a house fire that was started by a previous lightning strike. A 54-year-old man and a police officer were also injured by the same lightning strike.

A 45-year-old woman was struck by lightning as she was about to enter a restaurant on U.S. Route 9 North in Howell Township. She was pronounced dead about one hour later.

Storm totlas included 1.80 inches in Sandy Hook, 1.63 inches in Marlboro and 1.57 inches in Sea Girt.
