A man died due to a rip current after trying to rescue a woman and child from the surf.

Broadcast media and EM reported rip currents caused a direct drowning to a 39 yr old make and caused an direct death to a 34 yr old woman that was rescued from the surf but later died at the hospital.

Tropical Storm Fay made landfall well south of the Georgia coast with strong winds, high tides, high surf and heavy rainfall impacting Glynn and Camden Counties. Heavy rainfall spread inland as Fay moved west causing some flooding across portions of interior southeast Georgia.

The St Simons Island, Georgia tide gauge measured a low tide of -3.31 feet Mean Lower Low Water which was about 2.36 feet below predicted tide of -0.95 feet around 2000Z. This appear to break the previous record of -2.39 feet Mean Lower Low Water in January 2001.

Tides 1/2 to 1 foot above expected astronomical with breakers of 6 to 8 feet.

Several docks destroyed or sunk along the Back River near Brunswick, Ga. Other dock damage reported across the area with two houseboats pushed against each other in the marina with $6,700 dollars in damage. Numerous tree limbs down across the county.
