Strong southerly winds gusted to 64 mph at Wales and Tin City along the Bering Strait coast, while sustained winds ranged from 45-55 mph.

The combination of winds gusting over 60 mph, falling snow, and blowing snow resulted in blizzards conditions across Saint Lawrence Island. Visibility dropped to less than 1/4 of mile at Savoonga with winds gusts to 62 mph.

The tight pressure gradient across the Bering Strait and northern Bering Sea resulted in southerly wind gusts from 40 to over 60 mph over the marine area and along coastal capes. The strongest winds were reported at Wales (PAIW) where gusts to 61 mph were observed.
